While looking for your new tent for your family you will come across the 6 man tent, the most popular being the dome type tent. Designed to accommodate 6 people, however fitting 6 actual people into this type of tent might be a bit of a squeeze. Obviously different manufacturers design their tents different so check the specifications of the tent to decide whether the 6 man tent will fit 6 people plus their gear.

I would say it would be better for say a family of 4 to use a 6 person tent that way there should be more than enough space for everyone and their equipment. Obviously as mentioned above checking the specifications is a must before purchasing.

There is always great deals available online so make sure you have a good look around at the different tents available to make sure you find the one that is right for you and your family.

You will need to decide which seasons the tent will be used in, luckily most tents will be 3 or 4 season tents. This basically means that if you are going to go camping in the winter get the 4 seasons tent, if not then a 3 season should be sufficient. If you are prepared for the worst then your camping trip won’t turn into a nightmare.

While a 6 person tent is a good tent for a family of 4, anything above that and things will probably get over crowded. Anything less and there will be lots of space, however if you don’t really need the space, you need to consider downsizing to a smaller tent. Downsizing will ensure you won’t be carrying around a heavier tent than is needed.

6 Man Dome Tent

As mentioned at the top the dome tent is one of the most popular tents and is designed to be quick and easy to set up. No more of Dad shouting at everyone for doing it wrong, when really he has no idea what he is doing because he didn’t read the instructions, as he is a man.
I am a modern man and accept that the instructions are there to help me set my new tent up quickly and easily. So I highly recommend doing a test run in setting your tent up in the garden using the instructions, as it will make life so much easier when you go on your camping trip.

One thing I would consider is multiple tents; e.g. instead of a 6 man tent for a family of 4, why not two 4 man tents. It could make your trip more enjoyable. I’m sure a lot of kids would prefer to sleep in a separate tent to their parents, I know I did. A 4 man tent is a good size for accommodating 2 people and it may work out cheaper than buying the one 6 person tent. It also would mean instead of one person carrying the big tent, 2 people would carry smaller tents.

Once you have found the perfect tent or tents for your family you are almost ready to go. Plan your trip ahead of time and prepare for the worst. You never know when a freak weather storm is going to hit, so always be prepared.

Hopefully a 6 man tent will be great for you and your family and you can make camping a regular family holiday.

Cool. It is really nice to have a tent where your whole family can really bond and still feel cozy at the same time.
