Microwave Glass Tray
65Replacing a microwave glass tray is not as easy as you may think. You can just go out and buy a generic tray as all microwaves are different and the trays are designed to fit specific models. Therefore before you go hunting for a microwave turntable you need to make sure you know the make and model number of your microwave. This should be shown somewhere on the microwave itself or in the instruction manual.
The quickest, easiest and cheapest way to find the correct microwave tray is online. Searching online will no doubt give you multiple prices to compare in no time and saves you the time from trailing from store to store in search of the right product.
You know how it goes you hear a noise from the microwave assume it’s just a normal popping sound from heating your food. However once you hear the beep that your food is done and you open the door, you find a broken microwave glass tray. Normally the feeling of surprise or anger will be present questioning how a perfectly good glass plate just shatters by itself. (Or for some people their main concern will be that the food has been properly cooked and no glass has found it way in to it. The shattered glass can wait until they finish their meal.)
The reality is that perfectly good microwave glass plates don’t just break for no reason, it didn’t “just” happen, there was no paranormal activity which caused this.
The most likely causes are:
An area of the plate went over its temperature limit
The glass tray had a small crack from getting bumped and the heat caused the crack to expand causing the break.
The fact is people at times are not careful when placing plates, dishes etc in the microwave to warm their food. Therefore the constant bumps can weaken the plate over time causing small cracks.
Another reason is that some foods get too hot when cooking in a microwave and if you cook these items of food directly on the microwave glass plate then the tray may not be able to withhold the high temperature. Therefore it’s recommended you put your food on a plate that is suitable for microwave cooking.
Accidents do happen but because of the cost to replace these plates extra care is needed to ensure they remain in top condition.
Also because of the cost, depending on the age of your microwave it may actually be cheaper to buy a brand new microwave instead of replacing your microwave glass tray.
